The first step to creating a weave is cutting two different colored pieces of paper into strips. From there, choose which color you are going to use for the background and then which will be your letters. I chose orange to be the background and green as my letters.

After cutting the strips up and choosing your colors, set your background up by laying the strips of one color across horizontally. I used one strip of green to represent the bottom of the W because I wanted to weave the bottoms underneath the background. The W was made by taking green strips and weaving them in diagonally. When creating your own weave, you have to think about the shape of your initials and how to represent them, deciding whether the green should be in front or behind of the orange strips. A more complex letter such as a G would take much more strips than mine did. You have to consider how to weave the strips into one another

After forming the W, I went to work creating the r. It was easy to make as it is only two strips of green connecting at a 90 degree angle. All in all, my initials are not complex to weave, but some letters certainly are more difficult. In conclusion, when creating the image, it helped me to first lay out the strips of green on top of the orange so I could visualize what it should all look like. From there I went and weaved each strip into the orange background.Â
